Macon, GA – The Mayhem played their third different team in three nights but could not get a win as a third-period lead slipped away for their fifth straight loss. Zak Lambrecht scored two goals in the second that gave Macon a 3-2 lead, but the Mayhem fell 5-3 to Birmingham.
The Bulls struck first in the opening period when Colton Fletcher (10) gave Birmingham a 1-0 lead. Devin Brink (9) then tied it to make it 1-1. Before the first period ended, Birmingham regained the lead on a David Nippard (4) goal to bring the score to 2-1.
In the second, the momentum changed quickly on a pair of goals by Zac Lambrecht (9,10) as Macon had their first lead at 3-2.
The final frame did not go as planned, as Birmingham scored three unanswered goals. Alex Cohen (2), David Nippard (5), and Colton Fletcher (10) goals would let the Bulls seal the 5-3 win.
The Mayhem return to action for two home games on February 25 and 26. Friday night’s game against Huntsville is Teachers Appreciation Night, with the puck dropping at 7:30 PM. Saturday’s game against Birmingham features Pucks and Paws (sponsored by Barks and Brews) with a 6:30 PM start.
