Macon, GA – Coming off a shutout in their last game, Macon was riding high going into Thursday night’s game. The Ice Flyers, who are closing in on a playoff spot, had different thoughts. Pensacola used a four-goal second to beat Macon big 8-2.
Ice Flyers captain Brennan Blaszczack’s (23) goal made it 1-0 in the first. Macon then countered to tie it 1-1 on Caleb Cameron’s (7) goal. That would be as close as the Mayhem would get as Dylan Carabia (7) scored with just over two minutes left in the period to give Pensacola the last lead they would need at 2-1.
Four would score in the second period as Malik Johnson (5) would get the first of his two tallies to make it 3-1. Douglas Elgstam (8), Robert Blugers (5), and Ivan Bondarenko (12) would all add goals, which made it 6-1 after two periods of play.
In the third Weiland Parrish’s (13) goal made it six unanswered goals to give Pensacola a 7-1 lead. Michael Snow (2) scored for Macon to make 7-2, but Malik Johnson’s (6) second goal made it an 8-2 final.
The Mayhem return to action for the first of two straight against the Fayetteville Marksmen on Friday, March 4, with a 7:30 PM puck drop. It is first Responders Night so get your tickets by going to maconmayhem.com or call the Macon Coliseum box office at 478-751-9232.
