Tensions Boil Over as Mayhem Fall

Macon, GA – After posting a shutout the night before against the Bobcats, it would be Vermillion on Saturday Night who would turn the tide and end their 12-game losing streak by beating Macon 3-2. It was a back and forth game that featured fights, penalties, and the first road win for the Bobcats.

It started as if Macon would dominate again when team goal leader Scott Coash (15) scored just 15 seconds into the game to give the Mayhem a 1-0 lead. However, just 1:40 seconds later, Vermillion’s Aaron Ryback (8) tied it up at 1-1. Both sides would come up blank for the rest of the frame.

The second would be a wild one with 66 combined penalty minutes and three total goals. Macon’s Michael Snow (6) scored to give the Mayhem back the lead at 2-1. Just like the first lead, it would also be short-lived. Just under two minutes later, Levi Cudmore (2) would put one in the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2. Then it was Brett Radford’s (7) turn for the Bobcats, who would put in the winning goal to make it 3-2.

There was no scoring in the third as Vermillion County held on to win by that final. The Bobcats’ win was significant, snapping a 12-game losing streak, a 0-23-2 road record, and their first win in 2022. The last victory was on the last day of 2021 against Quad City on December 31, 2021.

Macon finishes out the month on the road to play their last away game of the season on Thursday night, March 31, at 7:05 EST. Macon returns home for the first of two against the Birmingham Bulls on April 1 with a 7:30 EST puck drop. Friday Night is #478 Night for the local area code, with tickets priced at $4.78.
