Lambrecht Nets Two as Mayhem Lose Final Road Contest

PENSACOLA, FL – The Macon Mayhem headed outside the friendly confines of the Macon Coliseum for the final time this season to take on a Pensacola Ice Flyers team that has had their number. Recent Mayhem signings Jamie Bucell and Hank Johnson making their professional debuts.

The first period would start with a flurry of action for the Ice Flyers as Johnson made a few sprawling saves. The onslaught of shots would eventually break through off the stick of the dynamic rookie Weiland Parrish. Frederic Letourneau would then double the advantage for the Ice Flyers off a well constructed powerplay. Later in the frame Ivan Bondarenko would add a third as the Mayhem would head back to the locker room looking to evaluate.

Head Coach Zac Desjardins would swap up his defensive pairings for the second, and it just clicked. Killing off a few penalties and getting power play opportunities of their own, the Mayhem would start to gain momentum. After launching shot after shot at Pensacola netminder Sean Kuhn, Macon would break through off a redirected shot by Zak Lambrecht on the powerplay. Lambrecht wasn’t done making an impact on special teams as he stole the puck away on the penalty kill late in the second. Streaking in on a one on none, Lambrecht would lift the puck past Kuhn for his second of the game. The Mayhem would be sad the period draw to a close as they established some much needed momentum.

The third period would be a frivolous affair as the Mayhem desperately searched for a tying goal that would never come. A back-breaking effort from the Pensacola captain Brennan Blasczak would bring the Ice Flyers’ lead back up to two. After the Mayhem went empty net to gain the man advantage, Marcus Russell would add insult to injury with an empty netter with .7 seconds remaining on the clock.

The Mayhem will return to home ice for the remainder of the season starting with a matchup against the Birmingham Bulls tomorrow night. The Mayhem are offering $4.78 tickets for tomorrow night’s game as part of their #478 Night promotion. For tickets, visit or the Macon Coliseum box office in person.
