Bullheaded Birmingham Tramples Over Macon

MACON, GA – The Mayhem came into Friday Night’s game leading the Bulls in the season series 4-2. With a chance to clinch the season series with a win against their biggest rival, Macon would never be in this one. It would not be their night, as Birmingham received a pair of goals from Mike Davis and Carson Rose to win big 6-1.

Leading by example was the first-period motto for the Bulls. Mike Davis (13, 14) was the star in the first period, as the Birmingham captain scored twice to give his team a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Bulls outshot Macon 20-6 in the first frame.

In the second, the Mayhem were back in the game as Michael Snow’s (7) goal made it a 2-1 game. It’s the closest Macon would be and the only tally in the game for the home team. With just over a minute in the second, Brody Duncan (4) would give his team a two-goal advantage for the second time to make it 3-1.

In the third, the Bulls were on parade, striking three times. Carson Rose (22, 23) was second in the league in goals by rookies to start the game, struck twice. Sandwiched between his two goals was Coltyn Bates’ (2) goal as Birmingham went on to win 6-1.

Bulls’ goalie Austin Lotz saved 20 of 21 shots to earn the win, as Birmingham outshot Macon 45-21 in the victory.

These two teams go at it again for the final time this season on Saturday Night with a puck drop an hour earlier at 6:30 PM EST. Saturday Night is Autism Awareness Night, with a jersey auction after the game. Macon will be wearing specialty jerseys created and drawn by the students at Byron Elementary.
