MACON, GA – After losing big the night before, Macon looked to redeem themselves on Saturday Night. The Mayhem trailed early in what turned out to be a back and forth game. The Bulls would score the final goal early in overtime for a 4-3 victory.
Mike Davis (15), their nemesis from the night before, who scored two on Friday, would start and finish it off on Saturday. Davis scored just 2:02 into the game to give Birmingham an early 1-0 lead.
It got crazy in the second period as Colton Fletcher (13) scored early in the second to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead, and it seemed like DeJa’Vu all over again. Macon, scored twice in a span of 51-seconds. First by Caleb Cameron (10) and then Zak Lambrecht (14) to tie it at 2-2. That is how the second ended and would set up a wild end to this one.
In the third, Birmingham scored early for the third straight period. David Nippard (10) hit the back of the twine to give the Bulls back the lead at 3-2. With some puck luck, Cody Rogers (9) lifted a high floater that would get past former Macon goalie Hayden Stewart, tying the game at 3-3.
So, the game would head to overtime, and it did not take long to decide it. For the second night in a row, Mike Davis (16) would score a pair of goals in the win. Davis put the biscuit in the basket just eight seconds into the extra period to seal a 4-3 win for Birmingham.
Macon ends the season at home with three games April 8-10 against the Pensacola Ice Flyers, who are playoff-bound. Friday night’s game starts at 7:30 PM EST and it’s Scout Night, with the 9 and 10 being Fan Appreciation Weekend.
