Late Ice Flyers’ Surge Downs Mayhem

  1. MACON, GA- Pensacola had not lost a game to Macon all season, as the playoff-bound Ice Flyers came into Friday Night’s action with an 8-0 record against the Mayhem. Macon led 2-0 but squandered it and lost 3-2 to Pensacola.

The Mayhem had a great start, as Zak Lambrecht’s (16) goal not only gave him the team lead but a 1-0 advantage. The score would have remained that way through the first as Macon built momentum going into the second.

In the second period, the Mayhem continued the charge as they made it 2-0 on Taylor Cutting’s (1) first tally of the season. The mojo was gone after that as Rex Moe (1) took advantage of power-play to cut the lead to 2-1 with just over two minutes remaining in the second.

The final period would not be pretty, as Dylan Carabia’s (8) goal tied it at 2-2, as the balance of power was tilting toward the Pensacola end of the ice. With just over seven minutes in the game, Weiland Parrish (15) gave the Ice Flyers the first and last lead they would need and go on to win 3-2.

Macon was outshot 13-3 in the third and 38-22 in the game, as Pensacola moves to 9-0 against Macon this season.

Macon and Pensacola go at it again in the second of three on Saturday Night with a 6:30 puck drop. There be live music by Black Jackey Bandolier outside the arena starting at 5 PM, a team photo giveaway, and a postgame jersey auction of the Mayhem’s home red jerseys.
